Mara Sheldon

Mara Sheldon, a senior policy advisor at Squire Patton Boggs advised the Biden presidential campaign on cannabis policy and works with private sector companies and nonprofits on a variety of legislative and regulatory matters related to cannabis and hemp. Mara is a policy expert and former congressional aide with significant experience on Capitol Hill as well as in state government, having also served as Communications Director and Spokesperson for Colorado Gov. Jared Polis’ (D) gubernatorial campaign. In the US House of Representatives, Mara also served on the congressional senior staff of the late Rep. John Dingell, Jr. (D-MI), the chairman of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce, which oversees the FDA and has direct jurisdiction on matters of commerce involving cannabis, CBD, hemp and related products. She is a key member of Squire Patton Boggs’ Cannabis Initiative Team and regularly authors cannabis policy pieces that have appeared in publications such as The Denver Post and Cannabis Law Review
